Developer Harry Macklowe and architect Robert A.M Stern wanted this building to look like an ice breaker, which means that it is cut right in the middle of its width, allowing residents views of both the Hudson River and New York City’s skyline.

2) 432 PARK AVENUE, NEW YORK CITY, USA

Height: 426 meters / 1396 feet | Completion Date: 2015 | Use: Residential tower This building is being built in the heart of Manhattan, on 57th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington. It will have 113 floors, which equals 432 meters. The building will be the tallest residential property not only in New York City but also in the United States and the entire Western Hemisphere. The building was designed by architect Rafael Vinoly and will feature 95 condominiums.

3) WORLD ONE, MUMBAI, INDIA

Height: 442 meters / 1450 feet | Completion Date: 2016 | Use: Residential/Retail This amazing construction has been under development since 2008 and will be the tallest building in India by 2016. The developer is Lodha Group. The tower’s design was conceived by Moan Ng, who has designed many other skyscrapers, including Goldin Finance 117 in Tianjin, China. This amazing construction will feature 123 floors, which brings it to a total height of 492 meters (1601 feet). It will be the first building in India to cross the half-kilometer mark.

4) GEVORA HOTEL, DUBAI, UAE

Height: 511 meters / 1650 feet | Completion Date: 2019 | Use: Hotel This amazing hotel will feature 84 floors and have 356 rooms. It will feature a restaurant, an infinity pool located on the top floor so everyone can see the view of Dubai’s skyline. The construction of this skyscraper was approved in 2006. However, the construction only began in 2012.

5) ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER, NEW YORK CITY, USA

Height: 541 meters / 1776 feet | Completion Date: 2014 | Use: Office This building is being built in the heart of Manhattan, on Ground Zero. It was previously known as the Freedom Tower. However, the name was changed to One World Trade Center after a vote by Port Authority’s board members. The tower’s construction began in 2006, and to this day, it is still being built. The tower has 104 floors and will be 541 meters high, making it the tallest building in the city once its construction is completed.

6) SHANGHAI TOWER, SHANGHAI, CHINA

Height: 632 meters / 2073 feet | Completion Date: 2015 | Use: Office This amazing skyscraper has been under construction since 2008. After being completed in 2014, it became the second tallest building in the world after Burj Khalifa. It will have 128 floors and a total height of 632 meters. This amazing skyscraper is designed by Gensler and will feature a hotel, an observation deck at the top of the 124th floor, which is a 100 square meter glass box.
